RE: Information Technology Policy Board

Dear Colleagues:

Thank you for agreeing to serve as the Information Technology Policy Board (ITPB). The Board will play a pivotal role, as part of a larger Information Technology Coordinating Framework, in assuring that UC Davis effectively and efficiently manages its application of technology to instruction, research, public service, and administrative systems.

Charge - The Policy Board will determine policy for those information technology issues that have campus wide implications. The Board will also receive from the Academic and Administrative Computing Coordinating Councils for resolution those policy and financial issues that cannot be effectively resolved by the Councils.

I suggest that the Board meet at least once per month until its membership can determine a more appropriate meeting schedule based on experience and issues at hand. Given it is mid-June, I ask that the Board meet at least once during the early summer to discuss its charge, possible agenda items for early consideration, the means for accomplishing identified tasks, and logistics and staff support. My office will take responsibility for scheduling the first meeting.

I very much appreciate your willingness to serve the campus as members of the Information Technology Policy Board.

Sincerely,

Larry N. Vanderhoef
Chancellor
